About Coolaroo Fabric and the Gale Pacific Company

Australia is renowned for its extreme weather. Daylight often brings searing heat making life somewhat unbearable, while at night the temperature can plummet below zero.

Almost 50 years ago, Gale Pacific Australia recognized the opportunity hidden in the challenge of Australia’s harsh weather extremes, and came up with a remarkable solution to help make life more bearable in their climate. Through advanced engineering, Gale Pacific set about pioneering a world-first; a unique marriage of mono filament and polymer tape technologies to create an entirely new type of knitted fabrics, known as Coolaroo fabric. This state-of-the-art material lies at the heart of virtually every Gale Pacific product, providing the ultimate protection from the relentless Australian sun.

Coolaroo knitted fabrics contain millions of specially designed air holes that allow air to flow freely through to create a significant cooling effect beneath. The result is the creation of a comfortable and cool environment for people, pets and plant life. In fact, so effective is the Coolaroo fabric design, temperatures beneath are reduced up to 32% when compared to direct sunlight.*

Gale Pacific is able to accomplish this by using only the most premium grades of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This remarkable material not only provides cooling effects, it also resists mold and mildew, is a breeze to clean and is proven to withstand a variety of weather extremes. From the outback in Australia to the deserts of Saudi Arabia, Coolaroo fabric has been used for decades as a durable material offering long-life performance.

Coolaroo fabrics are suitable for a variety of different outdoor applications and are available in a range of different constructions and UV protection factors. There is a way to make almost any part of your home, deck, patio or yard cooler by using Coolaroo outdoor window shades, shade sails, and umbrellas. Also, all HDPE fabrics are UV stabilized and supported by a three to ten year warranty against UV breakdown.**

Gale Pacific is an international company, a public company traded on the Australian Stock Exchange. The company enjoys a fine reputation among consumers and industry leaders alike and Gale Pacific’s extensive manufacturing operation extends well beyond the sun-drenched shores of Australia. Coolaroo sun protection fabric can be increasingly found in any number of leisure, industrial and agricultural

products in many countries throughout the world, including the United State, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East.

* Independently tested by CSIRO. Depends upon fabric type used.

** Coolaroo shade cloth – 10 year warranty against UV breakdown. Coolaroo gazebos, window shades and umbrellas – 5 year warranty against UV breakdown.
